Circulation of Our Dollar initiative, a transformative effort examining the economic health of historically disempowered Black communities. We explore the impact of regenerative versus extractive economics on the circulation of money within these communities. Currently, the Black dollar circulates for only 6 hours within the Black community, highlighting a deep-rooted economic disparity.
Our initiative aims to address intentional spending and support as key components to shift economic destitution in low-income households. The duration a dollar stays within a community is crucial for understanding its economic health. Comparatively, the Black dollar circulates much shorter than in other communities, such as 28 days in the Asian community, 19 days in the Jewish community, and 17 days in the White community.
Economic security is fundamental for safe and equitable communities. Addressing long-standing socioeconomic racism and intentional spending can break down barriers, reduce crime rates, and lead to just and equitable economic landscapes for Black Americans. Despite an annual Black spending power of over 1.8 trillion dollars, much of it does not contribute to building financial security within the community. Our initiative seeks to redirect spending towards fortifying the Black economy, promoting entrepreneurship, and building pathways for ownership and equity.
Seasoned Gives takes a holistic approach to supporting reparations for the Black economy. Focusing on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and education, our initiative aims to empower the community to gain control over key pillars of sustainability. Circulation of Our Dollar empowers participants, primarily those most impacted, to become activist spenders. By raising awareness, providing financial literacy skills, and correcting historical misappropriation, we seek to dismantle systemic Black trauma.
Essential to our work is addressing power imbalances in education. Seasoned Gives' educators, largely BIPOC, model self-love, acceptance, and economic justice to correct misinformation and contribute to the healing of systemic Black trauma. Join Seasoned Gives in reshaping the narrative of the Black economy. Circulation of Our Dollar is not just a program; it's a movement towards economic justice, sustainability, and empowerment for the Black community.
